BopCut export guide
How to export a video from BopCut
BopCut exports a montage in your browser. Choose a format and resolution, keep the tab in the foreground and check the saved video when the recording finishes.
MP4 or WebM?
The export dialog offers MP4 and WebM. The actual recording formats depend on your browser’s support. MP4 is a convenient choice for many players and sharing workflows. WebM is an alternative when MP4 recording is unavailable.
If BopCut reports that a format is unsupported, choose the other format or update Chrome or Edge. Renaming a WebM file to “.mp4” does not convert it: choose a supported format in the export dialog.
Which resolution should I choose?
The available output heights are 480p, 720p and 1080p. Start with 720p to check a first sequence. Choose 1080p when the source material and your device support the larger render. A larger output does not recreate detail missing from a low-resolution source.
How long does the export take?
The local exporter records your sequence at 30 frames per second. Allow approximately the duration of your montage, plus preparation and saving time. The export is not an instant server render.
Keep the tab in the foreground. Switching away, browser throttling or an interruption can affect playback and recording. Do not close the tab until the export has finished and the video has been saved.
Check the sequence before exporting
- Preview the start and end of the timeline.
- Confirm that all media are connected and can play.
- Listen for the intended audio and check muted tracks.
- Save a project and keep the source files.
Check the file after exporting
Open the exported video in a compatible player. Check its duration, picture and sound, including the beginning and final seconds. For a long project, first export a short test to confirm that your browser handles the chosen format.
Project file or video file?
Saving a project keeps your edit information so you can return to the timeline. Exporting makes a playable video. Keep both if you need to share a finished result and continue editing later. The project may need its original source media when reopened.
